About The Author

Matt Heart is a BMA award-winning international singer-songwriter and author known for crafting dark, immersive stories that blur the line between nostalgia and nightmare. Inspired by his lifelong love of Goosebumps, Matt set out to create horror that doesn’t talk down to young readers—stories that linger, unsettle, and stay with you long after the last page.

Alongside his wife of 35 years, Matt co-created and founded Cold Fever Books and 424 Records, building a creative ecosystem dedicated to fearless storytelling and genre-bending art. Through Cold Fever Books, he delivers chilling young adult and teen fiction with sharp edges and emotional depth. His popular titles include Nightmare in a Toy Store, Monster Juice, Zombielicious, Panic at the Drive-In, and Harold Nose Best, written for readers ages 13 and up.

For adult audiences, Matt explores darker territory with acclaimed novels such as The Incredible Bobbi Myers, Tender Eyes, Ding Dong Witch, and The Boney Man—works that blend crime, psychological horror, and the supernatural into deeply unsettling narratives. Across all his fiction, he is known for weaving elements of his own life into his stories, grounding the horror in something raw, personal, and unmistakably human.

When he isn’t crafting stories, Matt is creating music, with an impressive catalog of over 250 original songs spanning multiple genres and projects. He has also collaborated with his son, Jhuryll Phoenix, on the YouTube film series Start Over Saga, continuing his passion for storytelling across generations and mediums.

Matt Heart’s work is driven by a single goal: to tell stories that feel dangerous, intimate, and impossible to forget.
